Study Skills
At times a student's difficulty with a particular subject is directly related to their lack of proper study skills. Solid study and organizational skills are the keys to academic success. In fact students at all levels can benefit from improved study habits, time management and organizational skills. Our program develops a personal study style that best suits your child's learning needs. Once your child learns how to apply the study strategies, the results positively affect all school subjects and extracurricular activities. Which areas your child requires tutoring in will be determined from the parent interview and the Learning Bound Assessment.
Our program focuses on the following areas as required by your child. It is also important to note that we consider your child's learning style in the design and implementation of study skills program.
Organization: we teach how to keep note books, and study area organized. As well we teach how to prepare for studying (tools etc…).
Note-taking: we teach active listening skills that will help students of all ages record homework in an agenda, write board notes effectively while listening, and managing written notes and handouts.
Time Management: With increasing demand on student's time academically and outside of school, it is critical that children learn to manage their time. At Learning Bound, time management is taught in the following areas: Study planning, homework planning, agenda use, planning of personal and academic time to achieve balance, use time more effectively.
